Terry Berkowitz

'Terry Berkowitz is a filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist. She has traveled extensively to research works that have included subjects as wide-ranging as the lives of Palestinians under occupation (“A Rock and A Hard Place” at the Whitney Museum, 1992), rape and its resonances in the lives of women (“Backseat,” Sculpture Center, 1994; “The Malaya Lola Project,” CCP, Manila, 2007; and Galeria Magda Bellotti, Madrid, 2008), and forced expulsions around the world (“Chant for the Unsettled,” Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art, 1996 and “Veil of Memory/Prologue: The Last Supper,” Metrònom, Barcelona, 1999). Her solo exhibitions have shown at the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, the Joseloff Gallery at the Hartford Art School in Connecticut, Anderson Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth University, The Alternative Museum in New York, PS1 in Long Island City, 112 Green Street Workshop in New York, and elsewhere. Grants include NEA, CAPS, NYFA, NYSCA, Jerome Foundation. In 1996, Berkowitz became a Fulbright Scholar.'^*

Berkowitz took part in No Man's Land (2005–6) to which she contributed two works: Winter and The Same Land/La Misma Tierra.
