'Trupti Patel (b. 1957), was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and studied sculpture in India (MA Sculpture, MSU Vadodara, 1974 - 82) and in the UK as a Charles Wallace Scholar to the Royal College of Art (MA Ceramic Sculpture, 1983 - 85). Patel works predominantly in clay, often using Indian terracotta, which has a rich red colour when fired. Her sensuous and sensitive ceramic sculptures regularly depict the female form and question the role of women in contemporary society. The artist lives and works from her studio in Vadodara, India.'*
