Urna Sinha’s practice contemplates ideas of death, decay, regeneration and mutation. Through natural remains – insects, bones and corals amongst other detritus – she records intergenerational, historical, archaeological and deep time. Sinha is interested in textures and structural makes as surfaces to excavate time from.
Urna (b. 1996) is an alumnus of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda (2020) Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan (2018) and Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts TALM, Angers, France, as an exchange student (2017). Her recent exhibitions and workshops include A Map Folded Open, Art & Charlie, Mumbai, Serendipity Arts Festival 24, Goa,[Tender buttons, and another] Bellyache, Conflictorium, Ahmedabad, Summer Academy, Salzburg, Austria, and the first Trans-Southeast Asia Triennial research exhibition in China, amongst other significant participations.
The artist lives and works in Goa.
