Artist's Statement: Artist Hands is a variation of work inspired by a dialogue about arts and crafts in a rural setting. The original video installation premiered in a chicken coop. The Bangkok installation multiplies artist hands to connect with the first hands.

Fascinated by the art of cinema-verite, Lawan creates art videos with a similar approach to her documentary-gleaning beauty from simplicity. Artist Hands footage consists of hands of artists and artisans at work shot simultaneously on Boon Bandarn farm in Northeastern part of Thailand. The video, entitled Hands in the Coop was first installed in a chicken coop on the farm. Each installation reincarnates in the imagination of the artist or curators. The Bangkok installation connects viewers with artists and artisans by inviting them to give a hand and create more artist hands.
