'Bernd Reichert grew up in East Germany in the 1960s, and in his early artistic phase he was influenced by the social and emancipatory climate of the 1970s. In the early 1980s he first landed in Berlin and began to paint there, but in the course of reunification he moved to Belgium in 1992... After a break of several years, marked by the intensive study of artists of the late 19th century (like Bouguereau, Singer Sargent or Waterhouse), he returned to Berlin a few years ago, followed by an artistic change towards traditional portrait and figurative painting. Applying and developing the painting techniques of the old masters he is intensively concerned with the visual expressiveness of his art.'*
Bernd Reichert took part in both Procreation/Postcreation(2003), for which he submitted a work titled Début de la pérégrination (The Beginning of the Odyssey)e
