Charlotte Mungomery is a Director and Artist based in Eastern Australia. Known for her signature style, Mungomery's work focuses on experimental filmmaking, daringly playing with narrative and aesthetic abstractions. Mungomery's background as an award-winning production designer, recognized by the Australian Production Design Guild, informs her formally inventive and subversive approach to cinema and art creation.
Mungomery's filmography includes A Delicate Fire, Until We Touch, The Road, and This Is Not Here. Her short documentary project, Until We Touch, is exhibited at the Swedish Postal Museum after being presented at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, Atlanta DocFest, and Montreal Independent Film Festival. The work won Best Film at the Seoul International Short Film Festival. Her short experimental film, The Road, premiered at the 2023 Revelation Perth International Film Festival and is featured in the online collection at NOWNESS. Mungomery co-created and production designed the feature film, A Delicate Fire, for the Pinchgut Opera Company. A Delicate Fire was part of the official selection at the 2022 Revelation Perth International Film Festival.
In 2022, Mungomery was selected to attend Playlab Films' Creators Lab: Filming in The Amazon, where she directed the short film, This Is Not Here, under the mentorship of Apichatpong Weerasethakul. This film was selected as part of a group exhibit with Weerasethakul at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and is in the official selection at the 2023 Melbourne International Film Festival, SXSW Sydney 2023, and the 2023 Vancouver International Film Festival.
